Walt Conway is a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) and a manager at 403
Labs, LLC, a QSA firm and an Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV). Walt has over 35 years of payment systems and information technology
management experience. As VP, Industry Marketing with VISA, he worked with education institutions and
government agencies to implement and promote their e-commerce programs. While at Commonfund,
he created an internet-based payment processor for tuition payments and alumni contributions. His consulting experience
includes 10 years with SRI International leading banking and information technology management
projects worldwide, and being Managing Consultant for banking with DRI-McGraw Hill.
Walt is a frequent faculty member and speaker at professional conferences
organized by NACUBO, The Treasury Institute, Commonfund, and Professional
Development Group, and he authored the Electronic Payments section of NACUBO's College and University
Business Administration manual. He co-authored "Cards at School: Why Banks View Campuses as High Risk Customers"
published in the March 2007 issue of the AFP Exchange, examining security breaches at schools and the importance
of PCI-DSS compliance. He also wrote Straight Talk about Data Security for NACUBO's December 2008 Business

Walt is a Certified Payment-card Industry Security Manager (CPISM) and serves on the Advisory Board of the
Society of Payment Security Professionals.
Walt graduated with honors from Purdue University and later served on its
Krannert School Alumni Advisory Board. He received his masters degree from MIT's Sloan School of Management.
Walt does pro-bono consulting as a member of Stanford University's Alumni
Consulting Team and is Board President of Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco which provides housing and job training
for homeless adults.
